Four steps to successful sperm freezing, retrieval procedure, and pregnancy in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, TX

The sperm freezing procedure at NTMIC sperm lab in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, TX, goes by many different names, from sperm banking and cryopreservation to cryofreezing and cryobanking. Yet, these terms all refer to the same thing: the collection, exacting processing, and freezing of sperm, so that these sperm samples may be preserved and accessed for use at a later date. For many of NTMIC Sperm Lab’s patients, the freezing process has been appreciated with other names such as “Godsend”or “blessing.” Our stringent, precise protocols and sophisticated techniques have helped couples successfully get pregnant – even 14 years after the sperm was first frozen.

Sperm Freezing Procedure at NTMIC Sperm Lab in Frisco TX Area

Led by North Texas’ regional authority in male infertility, Dr. Jeffrey Buch, NTMIC Sperm Lab couples encounter a team of support staff well versed in the process of preserving their future goals for a family. At NTMIC Sperm Lab, we may discuss this option before surgical procedures that can affect a man’s fertility or other medical or personal situations that call for family planning. Regardless of your situation, our staff takes pride in working with couples in a professional, courteous, compassionate, and sensitive manner, when cryobanking is considered an appropriate option for you and your partner:

  • We will start by scheduling an appointment for a sperm sample to be dropped off at our facility directly across the street from Baylor Scott & White Medical Center at Frisco on Warren Parkway, or you can obtain a sample onsite in one of our private collection rooms. We provide instructions on how to properly collect the sample on our website at www.NTMICspermlab.com since motility can go down significantly without following proper protocol. So, it is important to provide the sample in a timely fashion, either by scheduling your drop-off or onsite collection.
  • The NTMIC Sperm Lab team expertly prepares the samples to be frozen. Substances known as “cryoprotectants” are added to aid in preserving and protecting the sperm for future retrieval and use.
  • After the samples are prepared and separated into vials, those vials are stored in liquid nitrogen at extremely low temperatures — -196 degrees Celsius (or -320 degrees Fahrenheit).
  • When you and your partner are ready, the sperm may be retrieved. Before it is used in fertility treatment, the sample continues to be subject to strict Quality Control protocols including test thaw checks of tiny amounts of the frozen sample set aside specifically to assure post thaw motility and viability.

NTMIC has invested in state-of-the-art equipment and training to assure constant temperatures and a healthy environment for the cryobanked samples. These features are associated with minimal loss of healthy sperm in the first 48 hours of freezing and sustained viability of frozen samples for years later. These factors and others in our strict protocols result in a high rate of success for those cryopreserved samples that are used later in reproductive procedures.
